NORTHAMPTONSHIRE ARCHIVES
Northamptonshire Archives: Christmas/New Year Closing
The service will be closing for Christmas from Thursday 18 December it will reopen for the week (three public days) from 6 to 8 January 2026. Then it will be closed for a project week for the week of 12 January. This is always an important opportunity for all the team to focus on those projects for which has been no capacity or time during the standard working week.
There is a wealth of records held at Northamptonshire Archives that are useful to family and local history researchers.
These include wills and probate records, bishop’s transcripts, maps, school records, deeds, poor law union records, nonconformist registers along with many documents relating to parish administration. Of particular use are the vast collections from many of the county’s stately homes which will include surveys, estate maps, rent books, leases and other related records.
Parish registers for Northamptonshire have been digitised and can be searched online at Ancestry. An index to Wills and Probate can be found on FindMyPast along with parish register transcriptions, hospital admission records, militia lists and various tax records.
